Nigella is an annual plant 30-50 cm high, strongly branching from the base of the stem, with delicate leaves of exquisite shape. The flowers are quite original, surrounded by an openwork green cover of upper pinnately dissected leaves, simple or double, red and purple colors and shades. It blooms from the end of June to August. Following the flowers, no less decorative swollen fruits appear on the shoots. It is cold-resistant, light-loving and drought-resistant. It is used in Moorish lawns, group plantings, borders, cutting. Seed pods are widely used to decorate winter bouquets. Sow in May in open ground in a permanent place, it can also be sown before winter. The distance between plants is 15-20 cm. Plants do not like transplanting. Prefers a sunny location, light, nutritious soils with a high lime content.
